I am currently a student at SUU (Southern Utah University). My major is a BM for clarinet performance. I am also minoring in psychology. I am in the SUU Animal Ambassadors and had served as Social Media Chair during the 2015-2016 school year. From my experiences in Animal Ambassador and the position that was bestowed upon me, I have learned leadership skills and responsibility. I have learned how to properly hold an animal and tackle problems such as my fear of snakes and tarantulas. My experience in music has taught me what sounds are pleasant to the ear along with the rules but when the rules of music can be broken. I have grown as a musician and will continue to do so as long as I shall live. I hope to one day become a music therapist. I had the desire to help people and animals but I still wanted to keep music in my life. Music therapy is becoming a career and is mentioned in articles about how it helps people in many ways such as people with Alzheimer's remembering their memories. There isn't much research on music therapy for animals but I still wanted to see if I can contribute to helping animals. I've shadowed music therapists over the summers. I have worked with Down Syndrome kids and adults along with Autistic children and adults. I've really enjoyed shadowing music therapists because it gives me ideas of how I could help a client in the future.
